red. A Journal of Arts

red.
Literary Journal seeks high-quality writing and art that is produced by new artists pushing the boundaries. Ezra Pound challenged modern writers to “Make it new.” We challenge the current developing writers and visual artists to seek innovative ways of breaking with the standard art being produced en masse. We invite you to submit to red.

Submission Guidelines for red. Literary Journal:

We accept work only from artists and writers who have not been widely published before.

Fiction & Nonfiction up to 4500 words.
Poetry
has no word limit.
Visual art
must meet the following requirements: We can accept TIFF and/or EPS files only. Color images must be CMYK files. No RGB color. Your graphics (halftones and color images) must be scanned at 300 resolution at 100%. Adjust the resolution before scanning for reduced or enlarged images. Remember to expect a press gain of about 10% when scanning your images and adjust the brightness/contrast to produce a high quality photo. Line art (type and line drawings) must be scanned at no less than 600 resolution (we recommend 700-1200); save as a TIFF file. We cannot accept any JPEG files, or files larger than 5MB.

Limit of three submissions per person. All submissions must be in MS Word format. Manuscripts must be in English, though translations are welcomed. Names should not appear on submissions, but should accompany work in a cover letter that includes your current address, email address, and other contact information.

The submission deadline has passed. We will be accepting submissions again in late 2007. Check back for details. In the meantime, have a read of red. #2, the Nepantla Issue.

Submit all work or questions to: mail@redlitmag.org

Order this issue now! That's a demand! Not really, but at eight bucks it costs about the same as a meal at McDonalds and lasts longer in your belly.
